GFX

Context

Spent a whole summer doing nothing but graphic design. I made profile pictures and thumbnails for Roblox games and assets for Roblox YouTubers, and sold them on Twitter as GFX. Everything was made in Photoshop, Blender and Paint.NET.

What I did

Getting started as a freelancer was the hard part. With no clients and no reputation, there's nothing that makes someone trust you with their money. I kept showing my work anyway, and once the first few people came in the growth was fast. Happy clients brought more clients.

Each order was the same routine: build the scene in Blender, finish it in Photoshop and Paint.NET, then handle pricing, deadlines and revisions over Twitter DMs.

Outcome

I didn't make much money. Most of the summer I was working below minimum wage, and eventually I got tired of it. But it left me with a much more honest idea of what freelancing is really like.
